Coaching Topic This Week: When You Don’t Feel Like Moving
Low-energy days happen. Feeling unmotivated doesn’t mean something is wrong with you. In fact, gentle movement is often part of the solution — not the problem.

If getting started feels hard, try lowering the barrier and meeting yourself where you are:

1️⃣ Shrink the Goal - Forget “working out.” Instead, try:

  • Stand up and stretch

  • Move for 5 minutes

  • Do one exercise

Momentum usually comes after you start — not before.

2️⃣ Ask a Better Question - Instead of asking, “Do I feel like moving?” Ask: “What kind of movement would feel supportive right now?” Maybe that’s:

  • A short walk

  • Gentle mobility

  • Floor-based movement

  • Slow strength work

It all counts.

3️⃣ Make It Pleasant - Movement doesn’t have to feel like punishment. Pair it with:

  • Music you love

  • A podcast or audiobook

  • Natural light

  • Comfortable clothes

If it feels good, you’re far more likely to begin.

4️⃣ Give Yourself an Exit - Tell yourself: “I can stop after 5 minutes.” Often, once you start, you’ll keep going.

If you don’t? You still showed up. That matters.

5️⃣ Remember Your “Why” - Movement isn’t about punishment or perfection. It’s about:

  • Reducing stiffness and pain

  • Supporting joint health

  • Improving energy and mood

  • Taking care of your future self

Some days are about intensity. Other days are about consistency. Both count.

On hard days, small movement is still meaningful movement.

Bottom Line
✔ Five minutes is enough
✔ Gentle counts
✔ Showing up imperfectly still counts

Your body doesn’t need extremes — it needs consistency and care.
